Below-Riser Clamshell Samplers

Vista Engineering offers the Below-Riser Clamshell Sampler system which is designed for use in underground radioactive waste storage tanks. This system is specifically geared to sample nearly empty tanks and sample from a discrete depth.

Removable clamshells are used to allow several samples to be taken with the same sampler. Clamshells are easily removed and installed using a quick-release function. Features include:

• Stainless steel construction
• Pneumatically powered (~100 psi)
• Adjustable air purge for body
• Stainless steel cable in umbilical
• Designed for use in 4” SCH 40 piping

The samplers are prepared in accordance with an ASME NQA-1 QA program. The sampler package includes: 1 sampler, a 60 foot long umbilical, and non-sparking tool for use with the clamshell quick release function. Vista Engineering can provide a custom deployment system (umbilical management, longer umbilicals, and/or sampler actuation) for your application.

Clamshells for Below-Riser Clamshell Sampler

Clamshells for use with the below-riser clamshell sampler are also available.  The clamshells are machined from stainless steel and have a ~64ml sample volume, and are prepared in accordance with an ASME NQA-1 QA program.

The clamshell assembly includes a male scoop, female scoop, and scoop retaining clip which have been cleaned and packaged for immediate use in sampling. (Sold only in quantities of 10 or more)
