Design & Fabrication

Vista Engineering has the skills and resources to provide full design and fabrication services for both small and large components and systems. Design services include concept development through delivery of tested systems. We can develop drawings, specifications, calculations, and 3D models. Our design and analysis software toolbox includes Autocad®, Solidworks®, MathCad®, Compress®, and Surfer®. Assembly and testing services for one-off designs can often be performed in our Kennewick laboratory. Larger fabrication services are typically performed with one of our local fabrication partners.

Corrosion Monitoring & Control

Corrosion Monitoring & Control is one of Vista Engineering’s core competencies. This includes subset subjects such as materials selection, life extension/remaining useful life prediction, and integrity assessments. Vista Engineering staff are well versed in both physical science principals associated with materials degradation as well as environmental laws associated with tank and piping integrity. Our on-staff corrosion engineer is a charter member and first chairman of the NACE T-2A-2 Committee on Radioactive Waste Tanks. In addition, we have performed materials selection activities for small and large process facilities and prepared corrosion monitoring and control plans for waste water treatment facilities.

HVAC

The Lead Engineer of the HVAC Department is Mr. James R. Kriskovich, P.E. Jim oversees a staff of experienced and highly qualified engineers working on HVAC projects. He is a recognized expert in nuclear HVAC and actively contributes to the development and review of nuclear ASME codes and standards.

Vista Engineering provides HVAC design, analysis and assessment services for a wide range of nuclear and industrial applications. Vista Engineering also provides (1) fabrication and construction engineering oversight and (2) start-up, acceptance, and periodic testing services. These services are provided by a staff that not only has design experience, but also has experience in operating HVAC systems, including developing procedures and training staff.

Vista Engineering is also structured and qualified to perform engineering services for the government and has extensive expertise and experience in specifying, designing, fabricating and testing HVAC and nuclear off-gas treatment systems around the Department of Energy complex.

Startup & Testing

Startup & Testing, sometimes referred to as “Commissioning,” includes all of the activities associated with bringing systems and components online and turned over to operations, including: system checks, interface checks, the various series of tests, and compiling the necessary as-built drawings, vendor cut-sheets, and operating procedures for turnover to operations. Our professional staff has many years of experience in this environment from both a “new facility” and a “new component in an existing facility” perspective.

Analysis

At Vista Engineering, we have experience in engineering analysis of processes and systems including: process flow diagrams, structural analysis, time-motion operations research analysis, requirements monitoring and tracking, compliance assessments, and optimization of complex, multi-variant systems. We utilize hand calculations, simple spreadsheets and object oriented databases or specialized software like ANSYS®, DOORS®, RDD-100®, and Witness®.

Quality Assurance

Vista Engineering operates under an approved ASME NQA-1 Nuclear Quality Assurance Program. Our program is written against all 18 elements of the 1994 edition of NQA-1. Although our program is written for rigorous control of activities for our nuclear industry clients, we apply a graded approach that allows flexibility and appropriate controls of activities when necessary. We also have extensive experience working with our customers’ quality assurance programs.
